Seized goods available to local groups

Local groups are being offered goods which Cheshire East Council has seized from nuisance noise makers.

The Council has a collection of televisions, speakers, guitars and musical equipment which have been removed from homes after the householders repeatedly ignored requests and statutory notices to decrease the volume of noise from them.

Once removed, a householder has six months to reclaim their property – this collection of items have not been claimed by the noisy offenders during this period so they are now Council property.

Rather than throw them away, Cheshire East Council is offering the goods to local groups or charitable organisations.

Most of the property is in good condition but some items are in need of repair.

Any groups or organisations interested in owning the items should call 01270 686601. There is no cost involved. All Cheshire East Council asks is that they are collected from the Council's Westfields building, in Sandbach. Items will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cheshire East Councillor Rachel Bailey, Cabinet member with responsibility for safer and stronger communities, said: "It would be such a shame to see these items destroyed. The previous owners have been given every opportunity to reclaim the items and have, for whatever reason, chosen not to.

"We want these televisions, guitars and speakers to go to good homes – I am sure there are charities or local community organisations who would benefit greatly from this offer."

The seized goods available are: 1 JVC television, 1 LG portable television, 1 Sky receiver box, 1Sanyo DVD player, 1 Aiwa speaker, 4 small speakers, 3 Panasonic speakers, 1 Panasonic CD music system, 2 Akai speakers (in need of repair), 2 Amplifiers (in need of repair), 1 Encore electric guitar in black fabric case (in need of repair) and 1 Squire Stratocaster electric guitar in black fabric case (in need of repair).
