A Wilmslow based charity are delighted that their new Patron Mica Paris will attend their main fundraising event of the year.

The legendary soul singer, described as an 'incredible live performer', will be singing a couple of songs at the Kibera in Need (KIN) Sapphire Ball to be held at the Hallmark Hotel on Saturday 1st October.

There will also be a live band, auction and three course dinner.

Wilmslow resident Estelle Goodwin set up KIN in 2007, with the aim of making life better for families in the Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya.

The charity funds more than 200 Kibera children through school, runs a weekly feeding programme, has made 400 small business loans and provided mattresses, vaccinations, medical support, outings, vocational training and much more.

On pledging her support for KIN, Mica said, "It is indeed an honour to be a patron of this great cause. Our children are our future. Please join me in reaching out to give these children and their families, living in such desperate conditions, a chance of a better life."

Estelle Goodwin said, "We are delighted that Mica has agreed to be our Patron and will be coming to the Sapphire Ball. With the support and celebrity kudos Mica now brings to the charity we hope to be able to raise further awareness nationally and internationally for KIN.

"It will be a great night and opportunity to raise much needed funds for the projects in Kibera."

Tickets are selling well for the KIN Sapphire Ball on Saturday 1st October, at the Hallmark Hotel in Handforth, but they still have space for a few more tables and individual guests.

Tickets priced £45 per person, including dinner and entertainment, can be purchased by email or by calling 01625 538902.
