Owners of the award winning Best Western Castle Green Hotel in Kendal have this week announced their purchase of the four-star Pinewood Hotel from Menzies Hotels in a sale organised by Christie & Co.

The 58 bedroom Pinewood Hotel in Handforth, which has five function rooms and is a licensed venue for civil weddings, has been purchased by the four directors from the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal.

The team have plans to further develop this recently refurbished hotel and will carry out immediate work to implement Best Western standards. They then intend to identify further opportunities to improve the customer experience and financial performance of the business, and expect significant job creation through the growth of the team and longer-term development of the site.

The company aim to reposition the hotel and rebrand the property to the Best Western Pinewood on Wilmslow.

Managing director Tim Rumney said "We have been looking for an acquisition since we sold The Princess on Portland, Manchester in March 2008. The Pinewood Hotel is in a great location for corporate and leisure guests.

"As an independent hotel, but under the brand of Best Western, we believe we will be able to reposition the Hotel within the local community and provide an excellent facility for business users. We will work with the existing team and key personnel from the Best Western Castle Green Hotel in Kendal to bring new opportunities to this long established hotel."

The Pinewood Hotel's sister property, the Best Western Castle Green Hotel, is a three star, 100-bedroom hotel located a mile from Kendal town centre in 14 acres of landscaped gardens. It also offers a conference centre and leisure centre with indoor pool and spa.

I hope that the new hotel owners will retain the excellent restaurant manager when it is under the new management. We have used this hotel for family celebrations for the last 15 years.

Dear Mr Sidorczuk

Thank you for your comments regards to the Pinewood Hotel.

Rest assured, I have no intentions of changing any of my team members at the hotel. From what I have experienced over the past seven days is that I have a fantastic team who are looking forward to the change and the hotel moving forward.

Kind regards

John Scott

As an ex Sales Manager for the property, may I wish you the very best of luck. It's a wonderful, unique, stand alone property in the locality. Good Luck.
