Dads have a lesson in design

On Friday, children in Form 1 at Pownall Hall School welcomed their dad's into the classroom for a lesson in Design Technology.

Following their trip to the Manchester Transport Museum the previous week, each child designed their own project for the afternoon on the theme of transport.

Dad's had to help their child make their design a reality. There was plenty of cardboard, paper, glue and paint available for all, and the children also brought in any special pieces that were required to make their design perfect.

Miss Ardern, the class teacher, was thrilled with the response to the event as "every child in the class had someone to help. Although I do not think they all knew what they were letting themselves in for, as there were some smart business suits in danger of being painted or glued by the younger helpers. There was also some good natured competition between dad's to make the best model."

Both young and old had a thoroughly enjoyable time and more than one father made comments along the lines of: "I wish I could spend every Friday afternoon like this" and "when can I do this again?"

Headmaster Mr Jonathan Hall stated "At Pownall Hall School we like to involve parents in their child's education and bringing them into the classroom in this way is wonderful for the children and their parents."
