East Cheshire Hospice is pleased to announce the arrival of its new Chief Executive, Fiona Morris, who takes up her post today, Monday 24th January.

Previously Joint Managing Director at Altrincham based business development and event management company, Inspiring Connections, Fiona has twenty years boardroom experience in both public and private sector companies. A former Vice Chair of Victim Support and the Witness Service for Greater Manchester and a trustee for Business in the Arts North West, Fiona's strong commercial background is complemented by senior level experience in the region's voluntary sector.

"East Cheshire Hospice provides a crucial service for local people," commented Fiona on her appointment. "It is a respected member of our community and I am so very proud to join a team which makes such a difference for people who are facing a time of great need."

Fiona is joining the Hospice following the resignation in June 2010 of the previous post holder, Jayne Bessant, who left to become Chief Executive at a larger hospice elsewhere in the north west. Brought up in Stockport, Fiona has lived in Wilmslow for over twenty years, beginning her career with a variety of roles at Grandmet and Northern Foods before moving to software company BSOFTB Plc, firstly as Commercial Director and then as Chief Executive.

Fiona says, "As the economy continues to struggle and government funding comes under ever closer scrutiny, my priority will clearly be to protect and further develop the service we offer to the local community. I know the Hospice is close to many people's hearts and I am looking forward to working with them so that we can continue to provide the very best of care in what most certainly are challenging times."

"On behalf of everyone at East Cheshire Hospice, I would like to thank all our supporters for everything they do on our behalf. The Hospice needs to fundraise almost £6,000 every single day just to keep going and so without their support, we really couldn't survive."
