A trip to the farthest edge of the Timperley & District JFL for a match against Deans Youth and an extra early start to avoid any possible traffic problems caused by the closure of the M56 didn’t deter the U14’s this weekend.
It’s been a while since they scored so many goals in a match but with the team sticking to their manager's game plan goals came easily. The first half ended with Town 6 - 2 up, but Deans must have had an inspiring team talk at half time as they restricted Town to only four further goals, the final result being 10 - 2. Leading from the front in the goal rush were captain B. Jackson (4) with others from Boyle (2), Bundred, Davies, A. Jackson and Musa.
I’m assured there was no collusion, but all three U9 teams scored four goals this weekend. For the U9 Jaguars there was a 4 - 0 win at home against Unicorn Athletic, with McEwen-Patterson netting all four. It was the same result, 4 - 0 for the U9 Panthers with Martin (2), Gaskin and Rycroft on the score sheet. The U9 Cougars travelled to Wythenshawe where they shared the points in a 4 - 4 draw. There was a hat-trick for Archer with the fourth added by Ford.
The U10 Panthers recorded, according to their manager, their best performance of the season so far with a 6 - 1 win against Unicorn Athletic. Keeping their match reporter busy with his notes were Mellor (2), Attward (2), Constantine and Firth.
The U11 Panthers must have been in a hurry this weekend as it took them only 20 minutes to score seven of their goals. However Lymm Rovers came to terms with the play for the second half and restricted Town to only one further goal making the final result 8 - 2. Another of Town’s hat-tricks this weekend came from the boot of McAndry with further goals added by Wheeler (2), Boyd, Nield and Vitale.
Again no collusion, but both U12 teams notched up 3 goals in their matches. For the U12 Panthers a 3 - 3 draw against Benchill Celtic sees them maintain their position at the top of their league. On target this week were McKew (2) and Saks. For the U12 Cougars there was a 3 - 2 win against Sale United following a series of draws to get them back to winning ways. The only scorer for Town was Hundeyin with two.
For the second week in a row the U15’s put 7 past their opposition, Swinton Boys, this time with 3 being scored in reply. The goals from Swindells (3), Johnson (2), Storey and Whatson ensure that the U15’s remain top of their league.
The U16’s also recorded another win to stay top of their league. This was not only a local derby against Alderley United but pitted the top two teams in the league against each other. The 4 - 0 win came thanks to another Town hat-trick this weekend from Kirk with the fourth added by McBride. For full match reports, see the Wilmslow Town website.
