Crowds gathered on Grove Street on Bank Holiday Monday for the 8th annual Street Party.
The sun was shining which helped attract 3000 people who enjoying a good old fashioned family day out. Imagine FM broadcast live from Grove Street where the crowds were entertained from 11am until 4pm. Regulars the Dixieland Hot Shots and Michelle Fotherby-O'Brien from Dance Fever were joined by newcomers Dance at the Smithy and Indian dancer Monica Ballani.
Special guests at the event were Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, David Briggs and our local MP, Chancellor George Osborne who arrived with his children Luke and Liberty.
Speaking live on Imagine FM George Osborne said "It's a great atmosphere, we're helped by the weather but also every year it gets better and better. It's absolutely packed."
Khumi Barton, who is a member of Wilmslow Forum and has been organising this community event since 2002, said "There were crowds and crowds of people on Grove Street for the whole afternoon. Parents with their families, grandparents and friends both old and young. At one stage it was impossible to move especially near the stage.
"We were blessed with good weather, which helps a lot and everyone was in a sunny mood because of the sunshine.
"There was a good feeling of enjoyment generated by visitors and charity stalls holders. The visitors were very generous and the charities raised much needed funds, ranging from £100 per stall to £600.
"I am very pleased that charities are benefiting from the generous giving of people. It's great to see everyone enjoying themselves and supporting all the charities present. It is a pleasure for me to organise this event for the community. I have been made very welcome in this country and its my way of saying thank you to my adopted country."
