Town Council funds free talk to inspire Wilmslow residents with their gardening

Wilmslow In Bloom 2025 event

A Community Grant of £400 has been awarded to Wilmslow In Bloom for a free-to-attend community talk hosted by renowned horticultural expert, landscape designer and lecturer Pip Smith.

Wilmslow In Bloom is a voluntary community group who plant displays around the town, representing Wilmslow in the Royal Horticultural Society's North West In Bloom competition. They are organising this free community event at Wilmslow Parish Hall to educate and inspire Wilmslow residents with their own gardening.

The talk is entitled 'Plants and People', covering simple ways to create a biodiverse green space close to home. Topics will include pots, containers, front gardens, sustainability, resilient planting, watering and attracting wildlife.

The free event takes place at Wilmslow Parish Hall, starting at 6.30pm on Friday 11th April 2025, with tea, coffee, biscuits available to purchase, and a raffle.

Wilmslow Town Mayor, Councillor Tim Higgins, said, "We are pleased to be able to fund this free talk for the local community.

"It promises to be a really interesting event, with a great opportunity to learn more about gardening from a well-respected and highly-experienced speaker.

"We hear tickets are going fast so, if you would like to attend, advise reserving your seat soon!".
