The remaining money wwas collected in shops, pubs, churches and community venues. Over £2000 was raised at customer services and the tills in Sainsbury's supermarket along with the poppy appeal stall which was manned by volunteers.

Shan Bristow, Wilmslow Poppy Appeal Organiser said "This is a splendid effort for a very worthy cause. It is only achieved, of course, by lots of people working together in the community – schools, businesses, churches and 1st Wilmslow Scouts.

"It is always a privilege being in Sainsbury's when people are at the Poppy Table, hearing their stories and confirming that We will never forget."

In addition there was a Poppy Appeal table at Waitrose, figures for which are not included in the above total.
