A local hardware and DIY store on Moor Lane has closed it doors.

Dan's DIY decided to stop trading from the beginning of November after 12 "very happy years" of serving the Wilmslow community.

Owner Dan said "As many of you know the DIY Shop was originally called D Clark DIY and had been run by the same family for many years.

"We wish to thank all our customers for their support, gossip and laughs but feel is the time to explore new options."

The property is now for sale by auction.

What a shame but thanks for all your help during last 10 years since I found the shop.
I've said it before and it's worth repeating "best little DIY shop ever". Served by someone who knows their stuff is something of a rarity these days unless you cough up for a personal shopper - like Dan !
Good luck and best wishes for the future.

Sad to see another independent shop go. It's been a goldmine for almost anything you could want since Linda set it up in the 1970s. The fixed costs for such shops are crippling now and the average transaction value in such a store just make it unviable. A real loss for the area
