Styal Running Club has embarked on its latest charity challenge - and it's a big one!
In 2021 they attempted to run virtually to Tokyo in time for the Olympic Games - 5873 miles. Despite raising lots of money for charity, they just fell short of the total miles needed. So this year it's the Tokyo Revenge Challenge, harnessing the running power of all 115 members for 24 days in November, culminating at the Wilmslow Festive 10k on Sunday November 24th.
The chosen charity for 2024 is Visyon, which supports the emotional health of children, young people and their families throughout Cheshire East.
Louise Coutts, Club Charity Organiser, said ""As a running club we are on a mission to conquer 5,873 miles, all in the name of mental health. Mental health affects us all, and by taking on this challenge, we're raising awareness and funds for Visyon, a wonderful charity that supports children and young people in need.
"Visyon provides mental health support in Cheshire East through counselling, mentoring and parental workshops. With 1 in 5 children and young people now suffering from mental health problems this is a brilliant charity to support. Every donation will make a real impact to the lives of young people."
Anyone wishing to donate to this challenge can do so online.
