Annual Cinema on the Carrs hailed a big success

Despite a mixed forecast in the run-up to the event, it stayed dry for the annual Cinema on the Carrs took place on Saturday 8th June.

The sun even shone down on the Carrs for a good part of the day which started at midday and featured a food and drink court and a tuck shop provided by Lindow Explorers and 1st Lindow Scouts, along with face painting and an inflatable slide to add some extra fun to the afternoon.

The afternoon film – Wonka – was a hit, with many gathering to watch with friends and family. This was followed by the very popular Duck Race, which was organised once again by Girlguiding Handforth.

The evening entertainment commenced with an on-screen music video, followed by the film Barbie, with some of the audience wearing Barbie's favourite colour – pink – to add to the fun.

Wilmslow Town Clerk, Matthew Jackson, said, "We were pleased that so many came along to enjoy Cinema on the Carrs this year, undeterred by the cooler temperatures. We had numbers similar to – if not greater than – previous years and it is good to see that so many value this annual community event and look forward to it each year.

"We would like to thank Girlguiding Handforth, Lindow Explorers and 1st Lindow Scouts for their big contributions to the day, as well as all who supported the event, including first aiders, security, volunteer litter pickers, engineers, catering and events teams. Thank you also to the local community for turning out in force with their extra layers!

"We have had some positive feedback from those who attended and would like to encourage others to get in touch with us via [email protected] to share their views on the event."
