A team of six cyclists from Wilmslow and Alderley Edge will set off on a four-day journey to Wells in Somerset in aid of a local charity on Sunday morning, 28th April
The Bishop of Stockport and local MP, Esther McVey will be amongst those cheering them on as they depart between 8.45 and 9.30am from the Lych Gate at St Bart's Church.
Then on the following day, Ian Porter will set off for Wells to make the entire journey using his bus pass on a 250 mile route.
Instigated for the 40th anniversary of local charity 'Wilmslow Wells for Africa', the Wilmslow Wells Challenge is raising funds to provide clean water and sanitation for remote African
communities.
David Cash, Chair of Wilmslow Wells, is cycling in the team and said "We've been really encouraged by the support we've received and want to thank all those who've contributed. Three of us have hardly been on a bike for over 25 years and 210 miles seems a very long way to pedal, especially as there are quite a few hills along the way!
"However, we've been training hard over the last few months and are now really looking forward to the journey."

Totally volunteer run, Wilmslow Wells has raised over £1.65 million over the last 40 years which has been invested in water or sanitation projects. As well as the enormous health benefits which flow from this, there are also great lifestyle improvements and education opportunities created because women and children no longer have to spend hours each day walking through (often dangerous) terrain in order to find water from a source which is frequently polluted.
