Planning permission for the change of use of vacant premises in Wilmslow town centre have been approved.

Individual Restaurants, owners of the Piccolino chain and the former Bar & Grill in Alderley Edge, are in the process of purchasing the property at 4-12 Swan Street with the intention of converting it into a Piccolino restaurant.

The company do not propose to make any external changes to the building which was previously occupied by the Brewhouse & Kitchen, and says it plans to invest £1.5million in the property and create 40 jobs which will be a mixture of full-time and part-time.

Individual Restaurants have subsequently submitted a planning application for the installation of a 'winterised' terrace together with the replacement of the existing timber planters with a powder coated aluminium enclosure.

The proposed enclosure would wrap around the entirety of the outdoor seating area creating a visual screen off the road for guests but also having a secondary function of helping to reduce noise levels in the outdoor dining area.

The terrace will be located within the existing outdoor seating area and will provide additional space and 34 additional covers at the restaurant which can be used all year around. The roof will be made from a retractable waterproof fabric and the proposed terrace will be accessed from inside the building by a couple of doorways, one of which is existing whilst the other is proposed to be created by replacing an existing window.

Individual Restaurants intend to have the restaurant open and trading by Christmas.

The plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council planning portal by searching for planning reference 23/2891M.

Thank you for the update, Lisa, it's good to know.
I'm sorry about the demise of the Brewhouse & Kitchen (which I used from time to time and enjoyed), and uninspired with the thought of "yet another Italian restaurant" but presumably someone thinks that's where the demand for restaurants in Wilmslow lies. At least it's good to see the building being used again.
