I will publish brief interviews with each of the candidates, in the order in which I receive a response to my request. Use the tags below to locate the other candidate interviews published to date.
Please tell me about yourself - occupation, where you live, interests, family?
My name is Tim Royle and I live on Thornton Drive near the railway station in Handforth. I have two children who live with their mum in Wilmslow, they are 19 and 17 and both go or went to Wilmslow High School.
I am the Managing Director of my own property company and also trade as an Independent Kitchen Specialist. I've been involved with property and kitchens for over 20 years.
How long you have lived there?
I've been in Handforth for over 6 years but have lived in Wilmslow and the surrounding area for most of my life apart from my time in the Armed Forces and a spell working in London for 3 years back in the 1980's
Are you a member of any local groups or societies?
I ran the Wilmslow Town Veterans football team for 10 years and still play in the Cheshire Veterans league.
Why have you decided to stand for election as a town councillor?
Since moving to Handforth I've become really settled and been made very welcome by a lot of people. The town is extreme friendly and I want to play a role in improving the town further.
After the infamous publicity Handforth received nationally a couple of years ago, I believe that it's very important to have councillors who can make a difference to the community by improving the town.
What do you consider to be the important issues facing Handforth?
I believe that improvements need to made to anti-social behaviour and vandalism and I intend to work with the local police in finding solutions to positively improve the community.
What do you hope to achieve and how in the next 4 years?
I'd like to improve the reputation of Handforth and ensure that the community feels safe and comfortable.
What experience and personal qualities will you bring to the role?
I am sociable and communicative and mix very well with people. I take care in listening to peoples points of view and will look to find quick, positive solutions to any queries brought to me for resolution. I would ensure that the local community that I represent will get the best from me in a role as their councillor.
Why should Handforth South residents vote for you?
I think I can bring excellent qualities, fresh ideas and work as a valuable member of a team representing Handforth South residents. Being an independent candidate also keeps national politics out of the ward and I can represent all residents without a political agenda getting in the way.
Editor's Note: The South Ward is the only contested ward in Handforth, therefore the only one which will go to election.
* current town councillor.
