Crews rescue elderly woman trapped following crash on A34 bypass

Police officers were called to the A34 Maclean Way just before 5.30pm on Tuesday 3rd January following reports of a three-vehicle collision which resulted in a casualty being trapped.

One fire engine from Wilmslow and one from Poynton also attended the accident involving a white Mercedes, a white Volkswagen and a grey BMW.

Crews used specialist equipment to remove the door from the vehicle in order to extract the front seat passenger of the Mercedes, a woman in her 80s. She was taken to Macclesfield District General Hospital for further checks.

Firefighters made the vehicle safe and were in attendance for around two hours.
