Plans for new Handforth eatery

Plans have been submitted to open a new restaurant and take-away in Handforth.

Mr Cani has applied to change the use of 114-116 Wilmslow Road, formally occupied by Tropical Cafe, from a healthy food and juice shop to a hot food take away and restaurant.

The plans include an internal seating area along with alfresco dining.

The restaurant and take-away will employ four full time and four part-time members of staff.

Whilst some local residents have welcomed the proposed addition to Handforth, offering a new place for people for breakfast, lunch or dinner, others have expressed concerns about the increasing amounts of litter on Crossfield Road, restricted parking and the outside area making it difficult for passers by as the pavement is narrow in parts.

The plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 22/3442M.

I’m not sure why Handforth needs yet another takeaway/eatery, we need something we don’t currently have maybe a shoe repair and key cutting shop or launderette both we’ve had but not replaced

I agree with you Denise. We do not need another take/away or eatery. Will they be putting in for licence next.

I guess businesses are set up to meet perceived needs which can be turned into profits by the entrepreneur who risks his / her shirt on setting it up.

Someone is prepared to take the financial risk that this Eatery will return a profit in Handforth.

No-one appears to think the same about key cutting & shoe repair shops, or launderettes.

That's why Handforth is getting an Eatery and not those other businesses.

@ Vince,

I wonder if, given the coming recession, the shoe repair business might fare better than the eatery when it comes to discretionary spending.

I dont understand all these comments. It used to be a Takeaway anyway. Having though a place to go for breakfast and lunch and dine in. Nothing like that is in Handforth at the moment and u have to go to Wilmslow for it.

I also feel that shoe repair shops and laudrette was there but apparently talking to the previous ownerels they werent making any profit as nobody supported them. Nowadays people buy new shoes and dont repair them

I have been getting my shoes repaired routinely at the independent shoe repair and locks smiths on Grove Street in Wilmslow for the past 28 years. Mark and his staff provide excellent service.

Never used a laundrette thought. I've just only recently had to change my washing machine after the last one broke down after 27.5 years of constant use!
