Handforth celebrates Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Handforth residents enjoyed a wonderful Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend and many have shared their photographs from this memorable event.

A number of these organisations were beneficiaries of the Handforth Town Council Queen's Platinum Award Scheme which the council ran from the start of the year.

Along with groups like the Mobility Access Group, Handforth Youth Clubs, Friends of Handforth Station and the two primary schools in Handforth a large number of resident groups benefitted from an award which assisted them in throwing street parties around Handforth, which were enjoyed by many.

Chairman of Handforth Town Council, Cllr John Smith said: We were very lucky for the most part with the weather over the Bank Holiday weekend and it was great to be able to visit the many street parties and organised events that residents had put on for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

"I speak not only for myself but for all councillors when I say I am pleased that the award scheme run by Handforth Town Council has had such a far reach across the community and has benefitted so many groups in Handforth; it was always the intention that this scheme benefit the maximum number of residents to be able to enjoy this once in a lifetime event."
