Local residents are amongst the 1,278 people recognised in the 2022 Queen's New Year Honours.

Professor Malcolm Press from Alderley Edge, the vice-chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University, was awarded a CBE for services to higher and technical education.
Andrew Anson from Wilmslow, Chief Executive Officer of the British Olympic Association, was awarded a CBE for services to sport, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Antony Porter QPM from Wilmslow, Lately Commissioner of the Office of the Surveillance Camera Commissioner, was awarded a CBE for services to security and to human rights.
Coronation Street star William Roache who lives in Wilmslow and has played Ken Barlow since the soap started in 1960, was awarded a CBE for services to drama and charity.
Meanwhile cycling stars Jason and Laura Kenny from Marton have become the first married couple to receive a damehood and a knighthood in the same honours list.
Jason, 33, is the holder of most Olympic gold medals (7) and medals (9) for a British athlete. With six Olympic medals, Laura, 29, holds the same records on the female side, and together they are the most successful married couple in Olympic history.
