Plans approved to expand specialist school with satellite site in Wilmslow

Plans have been approved to enable a school for pupils with with special educational needs to open at the former Summerfields Nursery And Education Centre on Dean Row Road.

The Esland Group have been granted permission to change the use of the nursery and first floor offices to a private school.

The group operates three schools in Congleton, Bedford and Grantham for pupils aged 8 to 18 with SEMH needs (Social, Emotional, Mental Health).

The Wilmslow School will be a satellite school to Congleton School and will be registered for 50 pupils, with 30 full-time members of staff.

The plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council's website by searching for planning reference 21/3567M.

Additionally, in July Cheshire East Council were granted permission to create a new educational facility at Dean Row Day Centre, just around the corner from Summerfields Nursery And Education Centre, for pupils with special needs.

The Council's scheme will create a satellite school to expand Springfield School in Crewe from 170 pupil places to 250 places (80 places in Wilmslow) from September 2022.
