Outdoor theatre is coming to The Carrs next months supported by a grant from Wilmslow Town Council.
Councillors agreed to award a £700 grant to local theatre company Time & Again who are delighted to bring live theatre to local audiences after an eighteen month absence during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream will take place in The Carrs park from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd August, in the space which has been occupied by the outdoor cinema in previous years.
Wilmslow Town Council Chairman Martin Watkins explained, "We are proud to sponsor the outdoor performances of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at the Carrs.
"Last week, Councillors agreed without hesitation to award Time and Again Theatre Company £700 to cover the cost of equipment hire, including a portable generator and PA system, for the event. The performances promise to be enjoyable for the whole community; residents can bring their picnics and fold-up chairs and relax whilst being entertained in the beautiful surroundings of the Carrs. After so many missed experiences during the past year and a half, this can be an evening to really look forward to."
Audience members are encouraged to bring a blanket or a chair to sit on. In the event of rain, bring umbrellas and waterproofs as the show will go on regardless of summertime showers.
Tim Cooper, a member of Time & Again and a Wilmslow resident for over thirty years, said "We were one date into a UK wide tour when the first lockdown began. It's been really hard to see so many shows cancelled and theatres closed during the past year. But we're really looking forward to performing again and doing such a fun play outdoors in our local town seems like the best way to restart!"
Performances will be at 7pm on Friday 20th, 2pm on Saturday 21st and 2pm on Sunday 22nd.
Tickets, which can be purchased online, cost £10 for adults and £5 for children under 12. The show is suitable for all ages and has a running time of 2 hours plus a 20 minute interval.
