Teenager arrested in connection with theft of catalytic converters

A teenager has been arrested following a spate of catalytic converter theft in the Handforth Dean area.

Since November Handforth Police received six reports of theft incidents involving catalytic converters with Toyota and Honda cars having been targeted.

A police spokesperson said "We have now arrested a 16-year-old boy from Nelson in Lancashire. He was arrested at Gemini Retail Park in Warrington at around 2.30pm on Friday."

The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of four counts of theft from a motor vehicle, one count of attempted theft from a motor vehicle and one count of going equipped for theft. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
