Planters to stop parking on Memorial Garden

The Town Council has installed floral planters in an attempt to deter unwanted parking on the Memorial Garden.

The increasing popularity of the Carrs park as an attraction to people of Wilmslow and far beyond, especially during the Coronavirus lockdowns, has presented a number of problems with that of parking being high up on the list. One of the parking issues that has caused the greatest of concerns has been the use of the Memorial Garden as an unofficial overflow car park.

Town Clerk Matthew Jackson said "This special area opposite St Barthomew's Church yard has now been given a level of protection with the installation of floral planters by the Town Council making access more difficult and providing a greater visual separation from the carrageway."

As a resident very local to this area and having witnessed the damage that has been caused to it by the sheer number of cars and dumped litter during this year, I just want to say a massive thank you to the Town Council for doing this.
Could this be a possible solution to the huge parking issue we have along the incline of Cliff Road also?
Huge thank you once again.

Thank heavens for the Town Council. These areas should be protected. Maybe the next project could be at the bottom of Cliff Road on the pavement to ensure adequate passage for disability vehicles and parents with prams and buggies to make it impossible for cars to be parked there!

Why can’t they put these up the cliff to stop parking it’s a lot worse there.

Well - this should stop parking on the grass areas BUT the pavement width has been reduced! So pedestrians are now forced to walk nearer the road and closer to vehicles.
THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA,
A safer and better option would be to put the planters onto the grass next to the pavement and leave the maximum width for pedestrians.
Can whoever came up with the idea to solve one problem but has now created another please advise that the planters will be moved onto the grass?

The first image shows a gap after the third planter, which will allow a vehicle over the pavement and onto the grass. Also the middle image shows a large gap between the lamppost and the hedge/wall so anyone wishing to park on the grass can do so at that end too. Another two planters are needed.

not seen it them person but the gaps between each planter look big enough to get a car through, if there is a 5mm gap either side they will try!
