With only four weeks to go, thousands of runners are now well into their training for The 26th ASICS Wilmslow Half Marathon which takes place on Sunday 28th March 2010.

The Wilmslow Half Marathon will again incorporate the England Half Marathon Championship and regularly attracts some of the North's leading road runners, celebrities and hundreds of locals. It is a huge fundraising event with Mencap being the official charity for Wilmslow 2010.

The Wilmslow Half Marathon is always over subscribed and this year it has proved to be even more popular. Entries were closed at the beginning of January, with the 26th marathon set to be the largest ever, beating the 2009 record of 3905 runners completing the 13.1 mile course.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the first five men and five women over the line with a bonus of £500 paid to the first man and woman if the course record is broken. The time to beat for men is 61:52 achieved by Isaac Macharia from Kenya in 2004 and 72:35 for the women, set by Michelle Ross-Cope last year.

The race sets off from Wilmslow Rugby Club at 10.30am so join the crowds along the route on Sunday 28th March, to support the runners and soak up the atmosphere.

After the race we will be featuring a race report and photographs kindly provided by Malcolm Fowler and Mick Hall Photography.
