Car park fees scrapped

Sainsbury’s Wilmslow customers will be delighted to hear the news that they
will no longer have to pay to park at the store.

Sainsbury’s has agreed a deal with Cheshire East Council, who own the car
park, which will mean that customers who spend £30 or more in store will be
able to park for free for two hours. It is hoped that the move will encourage shoppers to stay in the town centre for longer.

The announcement follows news that Sainsbury’s has also received planning
permission for an extension to the store. The 10,000 sq ft extension to the store will see the first floor opened to customers, to include a café and more space for a wider range of food and non-food items.

Steve Morris, store manager at Sainsbury’s Wilmslow, said: “We’re really pleased that this change to car parking at the store has come to fruition. We’ve worked hard with Cheshire East Council to help make this happen and we really do think it will help to boost trade in the town centre.”

Cheshire East Council’s Planning Officers gave the ok for Sainsbury’s
extension plans last month, and the car park refund scheme will be in place
immediately. Information on how to reclaim your parking charge can be found
in store.
