On Friday 14th December, The Ryleys School took part in the East Cheshire Hospice Snowman Sprint and raised over £2,440.

Children in the Prep ran from The Edge in Alderley Edge, down through the village and London Road and back to the school, all wearing snowman hats. It was a fantastic spectacle and parents and shoppers alike stopped to watch.

Within the school grounds, Pre-Prep ran a lap around the school and the Early Years Department also participated, along with the school's mascot, Ryley Bear.

Head Teacher, Mrs Julia Langford, said: "The children absolutely loved taking part in the Snowman Sprint and wearing the snowmen hats. I am very proud of their achievement in raising so much money for the charity and their enthusiasm for the challenge."

The money raised will go to East Cheshire Hospice, a charity which is able to provide exceptional end of life care for free because 80% of the annual running costs are met by donations from the communities they serve: Alderley Edge, Buxton, Congleton, High Legh, Knutsford, Macclesfield, Poynton, Wilmslow and the 72 villages in between. It costs £7,500 to provide each day of hospice care and this year, The Ryleys School hopes to make a real difference.
