Winners of the 2018 Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival announced

The winners of the 2018 Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival, which has certainly brought out the creative side of local businesses, schools and organisations, was announced at the Wilmslow Show on Sunday, 8th July.

Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club who have organised the festival for the past eight years, were delighted to have over 65 scarecrows across the town bringing lots of fun and colour.

They were judged at the show by Esther McVey MP and Angela McPake the Chair of the Wilmslow Show and the coveted 1st Prize for 2018 Best Business Scarecrow the awarded to Postman Pat from Wilmslow Post Office in Tesco Express.

There were 10 entrants in the Best School Scarecrow competition, the winners of which are Gorseybank Primary School with their Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.

A representative from The Post Office will be invited a join Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club at the Deanwater Hotel for a meal followed by a presentation where they they will then be a given a winner's certificate and a cheque for £100 for a charity or charities of their choice.

April from Wilmslow Post Office said "I'd just like to say how happy and proud we are that we came first place and we are presenting the prize money to East Cheshire Hospice for all their fantastic work they do."

Gorseybank Primary School will be presented with a winner's cup and will also receive a cheque for £100 for a charity or charities of their choice

Carol Parry, President of Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club has been invited to the school's assembly on Friday, 13th July, to do the presentation.

Ian Ferguson, of Wilmslow Dean Rotary said "The enthusiasm from all the entrants and the general public was far in advance of anything we have experienced in the previous years and we are grateful for everyones support.

"We are also grateful for the support of wilmslow.co.uk in publicising the event".
