Second chance to vote for evening movie as shortlist announced

Voting for the choice of films at the Cinema on the Carrs 2018 has now closed with 1500 having been cast over the past two weeks for the popular outdoor cinema event.

Organisers have confirmed that Toy Story will be shown as the afternoon film being the clear winner of the public vote. The film will form the centrepiece of the afternoon's entertainment that will also include the annual Cinema on the Carrs Duck Race organised by Dean Row Guides along with other family themed activities.

The vote for the main feature film in the evening has been far less conclusive with no clear winner being identified. As a result of this and of further discussions with the film licensing body organisers have decided to shortlist the two films with the greatest share of the vote and to introduce an alternative film that we have now had clearance to add to the list and which had been identified by significant numbers of people during the voting process.

A second round of voting for the main feature only will open at 6pm today (Wednesday, 18th April) and will close at midnight on Tuesday 24th April.

The choice of films will now be confined to:
Top Gun
The Sound of Music (Sing -a-long version)
The Greatest Showman

Town Clerk Matthew Jackson said "Cinema on the Carrs is organised and funded solely by Wilmslow Town Council on behalf of residents and whilst free to attend places a significant burden on public finances not least by the fixed licence fees paid to the films studio's and fixed infrastructure costs regardless of the numbers attending.

"Once again this year part of the arena will be given over for the use of gazebo's which should allow residents to plan their attendance in advance regardless of the weather on the day."

If it places a significant burden then don't do it, it is a nice to have, not a must have.

Unless it was a dead tie, then one of the original two must have came out on top. Why bother with another vote, because the organisers didn't like the winner? :)
