Chartered accountancy and business advisory firm Langricks has announced two key appointments in a proactive strategy for growth in 2018.

Andrew Milnes comes on board at the Wilmslow-based practice as a non-executive Director to help develop and improve the business, after owning and growing Hurst Accountants – a similar independent accountancy company – to a top 100 firm, now operating out of offices in Manchester and Stockport.

Mike Bowker has been appointed to Director from Associate Director to boost day to day provision of financial management services for a range of clients. He joined the business in 2010.

Langricks Managing Director Chris Langrick said the goal was to become a top 100 UK accountancy firm in the next 10 years and these were key appointments on that journey.

He said: "Andrew brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on how to build an independent firm and grow a profitable, sustainable business, having done it for 25 years at Hurst and established it as one of the best independent accountancy practices in the North West.

"Mike's appointment to Director is also a significant development. He has been with us seven years and is highly familiar with our culture and drive for service excellence. He will provide operational leadership across our customer service areas, taking over some of my day-to-day responsibilities to allow me to expand our advisory work."

Mike will look after a six-strong team working on Langricks' key client service offerings including bookkeeping, monthly management accounts with KPIs, payroll, VAT returns, year-end accounts, corporation tax, company secretarial compliance and personal tax. He will also have responsibility for reviews into financial controls in larger businesses and the building of bespoke forecast models and management information systems.

He said: "I am thrilled with becoming a Director at the firm and look forward to playing my part in what are exciting growth plans for the firm in the next few years."

Andrew Milnes added: "I am passionate about the benefits independent accountancy firms provide business owners and will be helping Chris differentiate Langricks in the market place to appeal to owner/leaders of growing businesses needing quality management information to grow and develop.

"Ultimately for independents it's about having a high quality team delivering excellent service – doing the basics very well – and developing and expanding top end advisory services alongside. This is something that Langricksexcel at already and is ripe for expansion."

Chris Langrick has 20 years in the industry and is highly experienced, currently advising SMEs all over the UK and working on projects in partnership with the Big Four. He has flotation experience with full and AIM listings and expertise in turnaround work during recessions and takes a real life approach to problem solving.

He concluded: "The investments we are making in these key individuals will strengthen our offer and move us closer to our top 100 goal. I am looking forward to working with both in 2018."
