Cheshire East Council has prepared a draft List of Locally Important Buildings Supplementary Planning Document which is intended to identify buildings and structures within Wilmslow that are of local importance yet are not included on the English Heritage's list.
The document looks at the historic and architectural merit of buildings so that a watching brief can be kept of them and their importance can be considered when determining planning applications.
From now until Monday February 22nd, the public are being consulted regarding the draft local list of important buildings in Wilmslow which includes: the former Rex Cinema buildings, the Western Railway Viaduct, Barclays Bank, Fulshaw C of E Primary School, the Old Post Office, Brick Bridge on Styal Road and several public houses. A number of residential and commercial buildings are also included.
Once the consultation period has ended, all responses received will be considered prior to the publication of the final document. Once finalised, the List of Locally Important Buildings Supplementary Planning Document will be adopted as a supplement to the Macclesfield Borough Local Plan 2004, and will become a material consideration in the determination of planning applications.
Anyone can nominate a building for inclusion on the local list but nominations should represent the best of the non-statutory listed buildings in the borough, be substantially unaltered and retain the majority of original features.
Nominations should include as much information as possible regarding the precise location of the building, the reason for nomination, digital photographs of the entire building and any available history of the building, with particular emphasis on dating.
