Entries for the 2010 Wilmslow Triathlon are now open. The sprint triathlon on the Cheshire Plains will be held on May 9th, starting with a 400m swim in the indoor pool at Wilmslow Leisure Centre. This will be followed by a 23.8 km cycle ride in the Cheshire countryside around west Wilmslow, towards Tatton Park finishing with a 6.7km run.
Simon Hill from the organisers Xtra Mile Events told us “"The Wilmslow Triathlon grows every year and we expect up to 500 people to take part in the 2010 race. It started in 2007 and is a great race for both novices and experienced triathletes alike with the pool based swim, the cycle through the beautiful villages of Ashley and Mobberley before returning to Wilmslow.
The run is a gentle, or fast, (take your pick) out and back course through the quiet Wilmslow streets, across the Bollin and then back to finish on the cricket pitch at the Leisure Centre."
Simon makes it sounds easy saying "The distances are very achievable - complete these three disciplines, cross the finish line and become a triathlete!"
Relay teams and competitors looking to raise money for charity are always encouraged and this year Xtra Mile Events have nominated Leukaemia Research and Macmillan Cancer Support as charities that competitors might like to consider fundraising for through their participation in the triathlon.
After the event there will be a prize giving, celebrating all those making great achievements in the race.
Entrance is £32 for BTF members and £35 for non-members. Relay teams are £40 for members and £46 for non BTF members. Closing date for entry is May 1st.

Unfortunately due to child protection and insurance restrictions under 18 year olds are not allowed to enter the triathlon.
