
A busy weekend will kick off in The Carrs on Saturday, May 13th, when a group of morris dancers from the Wirral will be visiting to perform one of their northwest-style clog dances.
To celebrate their 25th anniversary Mockbeggar Morris are touring the Cheshire and Greater Manchester area to visit some of the places after which their dances are named.
One of the dances is called "Bollin" and as the River Bollin runs through The Carrs Mockbeggar Morris have chosen to start their tour here and the group are inviting local residents to go along to this free event, starting at 10.45am, to watch them celebrate the continuation of a tradition started in the mills during the 19th century.
On the following day, Sunday, May 14th, the Friends of the Carrs will be putting on their annual fun dog show, Canine Capers in the Carrs. There will be an agility course for dogs and judging of ten fun categories in the parade ring with rosettes and prizes, lots of stalls and refreshments.
Entrance to the show is free, and there is a charge of £1 per dog for each judging category. Registration begins at 12 noon and the show starts at 12.30, finishing at about 3pm.
