Olympian inspires children to get active

Primary School Games Makers group

Children from 12 schools attended a Primary School Games Maker Conference at Wilmslow High School on Tuesday, 22nd November.

The event was attended by 65 primary school children and 12 teachers from Lindow, Ashdene, St Anne's Fulshaw, Alderley Edge, St Benedicts, Mobberley, Nether Alderley, Dean Valley, Bollinbrook, Ivy Bank and Puss Bank primary schools.

With the theme of tackling inactivity in schools the children participated in two very active workshops enabling them to take the ideas back to school and get everyone active for an extra 30 minutes throughout the school day.

The event was supported by former Olympic gymnast and Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Craig Heap who is a current broadcaster of gymnastics for the BBC.

Rosie Harris, School Games Organiser, said "The pupils were greatly enthused by the event with comments such as, 'that was brilliant', 'I've had such a great time!' and 'It was very professional'."
