Man tries to lure teenager into his van as she walked home from school

Pupils are being warned to extra vigilant on their journey to and from school after a girl was approached by a man who tried to encourage her to get into his vehicle.

The teenager was walking along Davey Lane in Alderley Edge, in the direction of Heyes Lane, when she was approached by a male driving a white van just after 4.30pm on Wednesday, 11th May.

The driver stopped and said "Why don't you jump in, it's quicker than walking". The girl declined and the male sped off when another vehicle drove past.

The man was white and wearing a black hooded top and black cap. The white van had scratches on it but the police have no further details.

PCSO Sarah Stanley said "Please take care when walking to and from school, never get into a vehicle that you don't know and always tell an adult and report such incidents to your local police force."
