A celebratory buffet lunch was held last week to celebrate a 3-star excellent rating for one of Cheshire East Council’s adult support services.
The Wilmslow Supported Living Network is a Cheshire East Supported Living Service and was awarded the excellent 3-star rating by the Care Quality Commission.
Working with a registered social landlord, and other key local agencies, the Network provides support for adults with learning disabilities, helping them live as independently as possible, as tenants in their own homes throughout Wilmslow, Handforth and the Alderley Edge area.
It offers flexible, housing-related support according to the specific needs of an individual providing help with everyday tasks in the home, as well as help with shopping, budgeting and social and leisure opportunities.
The celebration buffet lunch for the team and volunteers, at the Dean Row Centre in Handforth, was attended by Cheshire East Council’s Portfolio Holder for Adult Services, Roland Domleo and the Council’s Manager of Service Provision, Sandra Shorter.
Councillor Domleo said: “It is really satisfying to know that the Care Quality Commission believes that the people who use this service experience quality outcomes and that they consider we promote dignity, focus on diverse needs and take an innovative approach to care practices. It is satisfying and it is rewarding, not just for Cheshire East but for every individual who has contributed to this success.
“It is vital that people have the opportunity to live as independently as they can and that they make the decisions that affect their day-to-day lives."
