Plans for kitchen showroom at new office development

DSC_0409

A planning application has been submitted to change the use of a new-build office development to retail.

Permission is being sought to enable a kitchen showroom and associated offices to open at The Colony on Altrincham Road which is currently under construction, increasing the internal floorspace from 336 square metres to 416 sqm.

The site was previously occupied by Brybour Lodge Kennels but permission was granted at the end of 2013 to redevelop the site from kennels to office accommodation.

The existing house has been renovated and extended, whilst the kennels were demolished and are being replaced with office buildings.

The planning application can be viewed on Cheshire East Council's website by searching for planning reference 16/0693M.

The deadline for submitting comments is 9th March and a decision is expected to be made by 7th April.

These offices have not even been completed yet and already the owners wish to change the usage! There are already enough empty retail sites in the Wilmslow area to cater for a proposed kitchen showroom. This submission should be rejected. There are enough cars, vans and lorries on that stretch of road already and congestion is far too frequent without adding to the problem.

To be fair, it wasn't a great location for offices in the first place. The name didn't help much either ! :)
