Readers will recall that St John's Church has been helping in the fight against the recession by organising events to help job seekers. These focused on assisting people looking for their next position whether they had already lost their jobs or believed they may do so in the near future.
Another event is planned for Tuesday 3 November 7.30pm at Lindow School. The evening will again draw on local experts with a series of workshops includinginterview skills, CV writing, how to find your next job through networking and how to set up your own business.
One-to-one sessions on topics such as education and retraining, voluntary service opportunities, IT skills and debt management will also be available. Many local business people and recruiters will be there to meet job seekers over a complimentary glass of wine.
Some of the feedback from local job seekers after the last event included:
'The networking event made me feel comforted, the fact that I am not the only one in Wilmslow looking for work in these difficult times, and so good to know people really care, thanks again.'
'I found the recent job search workshops very helpful, motivating and encouraging.'
'The evening made me feel supported in my job search. It can be very lonely and disheartening searching for a job. Meeting and talking with people who are 'in the same boat' and people who have given up their free time to help gave me a real lift and has spurred me on. It was also good to have the job market and the way it works with regard to networking explained.'
There is no need to book for the event on 3 November. Anyone is welcome to come along to Lindow School at 7.30pm. Please pass on this invitation to anyone you know who might be interested.
