The Wilmslow In Bloom team are certainly not resting on their laurels, despite winning gold for two consecutive years in the RHS North West in Bloom competition.

Instead they are already planning for next year, to ensure they maintain the same high standard of entry, and have chosen their theme for 2016.

RHS set the theme nationally for three years as 'Greener Streets Better Lives' and the team of volunteers decided to have a focus for each of the three years. For 2015 they focussed on 'Upcycling Wilmslow' and for next year's entry they have chosen the theme 'Butterflies and Bees'.

Helen Yates, Secretary of Wilmslow In Bloom said "We all agreed it was a really lovely theme which schools, partner groups and businesses could easily get involved with.

"It encompasses our previous work on wildflower meadows and wildlife habitat areas, as well as the work Incredible Edible have been doing on getting more pollinating plants into town."

Helen added "We'd love to see a lot of the upcycled ideas coming out again with pollen friendly planting to have a rollover of the previous years themes."

Ian Baillie commented "Friends of the Carrs will be joining in enthusiastically with their plans to develop and increase the wild flower and wetland plant areas in the countryside park and to involve local primary schools in learning about the plants and wildlife to be found there."

This year the volunteers from Incredible Edible were supported by 82 businesses, local schools, various organisations and local residents who all came together to ensure the town centre was blooming and they were rewarded with the Best Community Effort trophy as well as the gold award.
