Double celebration at Wilmslow Library

Delia and Richard (1)

Wilmslow Library held a double celebration on Thursday, 8th October, with an event to celebrate both National Poetry Day and the end of the 'Something New' reading challenge for adults.

Emily Morrey said "We were delighted to be joined by the fantastic Delia Corrie, who performed a range of poems on the subject of 'Light' which was the theme for this year's National Poetry Day.

"Quite a crowd had gathered in the main library to enjoy the poetry readings which were accompanied by tea and biscuits. The readings were followed by lively discussion, and even the recitation of a poem written by a member of the audience."

In addition, the library marked the end of the 'Something New' adult reading challenge which has been running since June, aiming to expand and enliven the reading choices of those taking part.

Emily added "As readers we often return time and again to our favourite authors and genres, and the 'Something New' challenge pushed our reading boundaries, one participant described it as 'very enjoyable'."

All participants who completed the challenge and handed in their entry forms were entered into the prize draw. Delia Corrie picked out a winner Richard who she presented the prize of a £50 shopping voucher to.
