A new comedy night which is launching in Wilmslow next month is on the look out for brand new stand-up talent.
MirthLab, which is launching at The Old Dancer on Thursday 3rd September, is looking for acts to take part in the upcoming show.
With a strict no jeering policy, folk are allowed to face their demons by getting up on the mic or just chill out and watch the comedy unfold.
MirthLab was born after creator Paul Davies had a nervous breakdown.
He said: "Three years ago I had a massive nervous breakdown. After two suicide attempts my life was in shreds, and I needed something to get back into life. Comedy became a form of self-medication."
With a project so personal to Paul, and so dear to his heart, it's easy to see that this show is part of his healing process and is also a way in which he can create a positive debate about mental health issues.
Paul added "We're a group of brand new comics on the Greater Manchester circuit and we wanted to try and create a new environment which was really positive for new comics to come along to. We have some established comedians who'll be performing on the night but at the same time you can sign up for five minutes and do a little stint."
MirthLab supports the charity Mind who provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
Paul continued "We want to encourage members of the local community to get up and take part, they can get in touch at [email protected] or visit us on-line at www.mirthlab.co.uk."
MirthLab will be held in Wilmslow on the first Thursday of every month starting at 8pm.
