A Wilmslow based charity is organising a sponsored walk across Morecombe Bay.

Tickets are now on sale for the guided walk, organised by Kibera in Need (KIN) and will led by the Queen's Official Guide to the Sands Mr Cedric Robinson. It will be 7 to 8 miles long, depending on the route, and will take approximately 4 hours.

Walkers will start from Arnside Village at 1pm on Sunday 9th August, latecomers will not be able to take part. The walk will finish around 5pm at Kent's Bank Railway Station, Morecombe. To return to Arnside there is a train service from Kent's Bank. The journey takes 10 minutes, costs £3.20 and can be booked at www.trainline.com.

Estelle Goodwin, who founded KIN, said "Crossing Morecombe Bay without a Guide is not recommended and this is a great opportunity to experience the Bay and raise funds for KIN.

"This is KIN's main fundraiser for 2015 and please support if you can!"

For further information and a registration form visit the KIN website. Sponsorship forms and details of the walk will be sent once you have registered your place.

Dog are welcome and walkers are requested to bring refreshments with them.

Kibera is one of Africa's largest slums situated 7km from the centre of Nairobi, Kenya where up to 1m people live in unsanitary conditions with a constant risk of disease and malnutrition. Kibera In Need provides a lifeline for children and adults living in the Kibera slum. Through a Guardianship Scheme, children are enabled to have an education, regular vaccinations and hot meals. A Business Support Scheme gives adult residents the chance to setup small businesses and be economically independent.
