Free walk to run group calls for new members

A busy Wilmslow mum is looking to generate more interest in a local walk to run group which has helped her to not only get fitter but make new friends and have some important me time.

Helena Hodgson joined the free group in April having not regularly exercised for several years. She now regularly runs 5k and feel so much better.

She explained "The walk to run plan has been amazing and I'd love to grow the group into a fun and social group for people who currently might be too afraid to exercise or feel very unfit.

"Our numbers have dwindled so I'm looking to reignite interest in the group. You don't need to be fit, it's a free community group which is open to people of all ages and most of all it's fun."

The group aim to run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They currently meet at 7.15pm but many mothers of young children find this time difficult so they are considering organising morning or afternoon runs - depending on the needs of the people who join.

Whilst the group was initially aimed at mums with babies or small children, it is open to people of all ages.

Helena added "One of my good friends in North Manchester joined a walk to run group around two years ago and is now a regular runner, her group has tens of members and she runs half marathons! I can't believe there isn't a demand for this in Wilmslow.

"Come on, unfit people of Wilmslow who want a change in your life. Give it a go! If you'd like to run with us on our couch to 5k walk to run program please contact me on 07514711932."
