Police find stash of laughing gas canisters

Wilmslow Police found further evidence at the weekend that youths are gathering in the town centre to take part in the potentially dangerous craze of inhaling laughing gas.

On Sunday, 15th March, police found a large number of empty canisters at the back of Wilmslow Leisure Centre. These canisters contained nitrous oxide, which is commonly known as laughing gas, and were found with balloons which are used to inhale the gas.

PCSO Jim Newns said "Inhaling this gas is dangerous and can be fatal."

"Anyone with any further information please call the police on 101 or Crime Stoppers 0800555111."

PCSO Newns added "Wilmslow Police continue to be vigilant in conducting regular patrols in this area."

Updated Monday 23rd March 3pm.

One of the members of Wilmslow Clean Team found another 60+ of these canisters during the Spring Clean litter pick, carried out with the scouts around the Leisure Centre on the evening of Friday 20th March.
