A Buenos Aires inspired restaurant group is opening a branch in Wilmslow next week, which will be their 9th site in the UK. Yesterday I popped in for a sneak peek.
Opening at 10am on Thursday 12th March, CAU, the 'little brother' to the Gaucho group, will bring a flavour of the Argentinian capital to Water Lane.
The Wilmslow restaurant seats 130 covers and features an open kitchen and bar on the ground floor along with an outside terrace for al fresco dining.
Unsurprisingly, Argentinian beef is prominent on the all-day menu at CAU but they aim to cater for all tastes with a selection of vegetarian, fish, pork and chicken dishes. Breakfast, with an Argentinian twist, will also be served as well as Sunday roast.
All of which can be washed down with a selection of smoothies, shakes, beers, cocktails and wine - including four CAU own brand wines, two from Argentina and two from France.
All their beef is wet-aged, so rather than being dry-aged and hung, the beef is vacuum sealed in Argentina within 24-48 hours to retain its moisture. The steaks are then cut fresh for each order and the burgers are made using the offcuts from their prime cuts.
CAU intends to bring something new and different to the casual dining market in the area, creating an energetic and fun place to be - with sky on the walls and grass on the ceiling!
Charley Springall, Head of Marketing at CAU, said "We very much find ourselves attracting the girls who come to have lunches and those who want a quick burger and beer at lunchtime as well as those who want to come for a proper meal with friends on a Friday night, we try to appeal to everyone."
Charley added "For us this is our first venture up North and we really like the community vibe. Wilmslow has been a really welcoming, lovely place to come."
