Handforth man charged with drink driving twice in 24 hours

A 51-year-old man from Handforth has had his car seized after being caught drink drinking twice in twenty-four hours.

Police received reports at 4.30pm on Monday, 5th January, of a collision on Elm Grove in Handforth involving a male who was allegedly intoxicated.

Police attended immediately and a 51 year old male from Handforth was subsequently arrested and later charged with drink driving at Middlewich custody facility.

Then at 7.40pm the following evening, Tuesday 6th January, police received a report from local residents that a man had crashed into a parked car on Meriton Road in Handforth.

Sgt Andy Miller said "On attendance the same 51 year old male was present and was unable to provide a breath sample at the roadside. He was arrested and later charged with drink driving again and was bailed to appear at Macclesfield Magistrates Court on 4th February 2015.

"On this occasion his vehicle was seized by police."
