Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra's Christmas concert on Saturday 6th December is a concert with a difference.
Last year, at a fundraising event in Wilmslow, several people asked us if there would be carols in our forthcoming Christmas concert. Well, this year, the answer is 'yes'! So there'll be a chance for you to join in.
Something about Christmas brings out the spirt of magic in composers. The concert features seasonal favourites such as the Hansel and Gretel Overture and a festive excerpt from Rimsky-Korsakov's Christmas Eve Suite. The glittering colours of Ravel's Mother Goose continue the fairy-tale theme.
Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker ballet describes the magical goings-on in a house on Christmas Eve while (nearly) all the household sleeps, and is a firm Christmas favourite. Leroy Anderson's seasonal Sleigh Ride rounds off an evening of pure entertainment.
For this concert we are delighted to welcome back Marco Bellasi, who established such a rapport with the orchestra when he first conducted us last season.
As always, the concert will be in the Evans Theatre in Wilmslow Leisure Centre - which means free parking, good disabled access, and a good view for the audience.
The concert takes place at 7.45 pm on Saturday 6th December. Tickets cost £12 (concessions £10) and can be bought at the door, or through the ticket hotline on 01925 756144, or through the Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra website, or at Bang & Olufsen in Wilmslow.
