Police were called to Styal Road yesterday evening following a report suggesting a shot had been fired at the window of a house.
The incident occurred at 10.56pm on Thursday, 17 July, when there were two occupants in the house, neither of whom were injured.
A police spokesperson said "As a precautionary measure, following the report, Styal Road has been closed so that police can continue enquires and conduct a search in daylight. There will be a higher visibility police presence as these enquiries are carried out."
