Firefighters had to break into a chip shop in the Rex Buildings on Wednesday, 9th July, because the property had filled with steam.

One fire engine from Wilmslow attended the incident at The Blue Lagoon on Alderley Road at 12.22pm.

The fire crew had to gain entry to the property to isolate cooking which had been left unattended. The steam was caused by a bain marie which had been left switched on.

The chip shop was closed as agents acting on behalf of the landlords had taken possession of the property on the same day and issued a Notice of Forfeiture.
