A group of friends are cycling from Wilmslow to Abersoch next month to raise funds for The GEM Appeal.

Andrew Broomhead, Managing Director at Royles Jaguar, will be joined by John Elder, Wilmslow architect Pete Bowen and Anthony Jevons, Director at Jackson-Stops & Staff's Hale office.

They will be setting off on their 126 mile journey at 5am on Thursday 3rd July, arriving in Abersoch later that day having ridden via Bala.

Whilst Andrew, who took up cycling about 12 months ago, has never completed a physical challenge like this Peter and Anthony are both experienced cyclists. Pete took part in the 2012 Sports Relief Challenge with comedian John Bishop, cycling 195 miles from Paris to Calais in one day and in 2013 he completed a 312km ride around Mallorca - both of which were in aid of The Christie.

Anthony, who completes a number of triathlons each year, commented "I did John O Groats to Lands End twice in the 80s and 90s but was fit in those days!!"

Andrew Broomhead explained "We went to the GEM Appeal Ball last year hosted by Tim Healy and Denise Welch and believe it to be a worthwhile cause, when you have healthy kids of your own, you realise how lucky you are."

The GEM Appeal provides research into and treatment for incurable genetic diseases in children and has provided a laboratory and many expensive items of equipment in helping to better the lives of dying children.

To support them in their challenge to raise £4000 for the GEM Appeal you can donate via their JustGiving page.
