Rugby: Junior Colts crowned league champions

Wilmslow Wolves Junior Colts rugby team are the Raging bull North West League C champions.

They topped the league for the first time after beating Marple 36-5 and leapfrogging Newcastle Staffordshire who had held top spot all season until Sunday, 23rd February.

The crunch game earlier in the season between Wolves and Newcastle had been a real nail biter resulting in a Wilmslow victory by one point which coincidentally is the same amount of points they won the league.

Phil Howells commented "This is quite a feat considering where they were four years ago. Staring down a barrel the team had dissipated down to a squad of twelve which was a bit tricky in a fifteen man game. The boys were determined not to fold and went about recruiting other players and slowly they developed a squad who are capable of causing a few upsets next season."
